The vacuum degassing (VD) process is one of the basic processes in vacuum metallurgy. SMS Mevac took a leading part right from the beginning when it was put into operational practice, initially in the development of powerful steam ejector vacuum pumps and, from 1960, in the construction of complete plants. Know-how gained from the construction of more than 140 VD installations.
